ABOUT US

In the fall of the year 2000, we (John and Maxine Zekveld) acquired the property, formerly known as Reid’s Fruit Farm, located at 4622 London Line, 1/2 km east of Reeses Corners.

The farm consists of ninety-four acres of which, eighty-eight are used for crops. Twenty-two acres are orchards where we grow apples, plums, peaches, nectarines, sour cherries and pears. Another eight acres are set aside for berries with the remainder used for a great variety of vegetables. All our crops are handpicked and delivered fresh to our on-farm store.

In 2004 we expanded our service to the local Sarnia Farmer's Market. We are at the Sarnia Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from May until October. It is located on the corner of Ontario St.  and Proctor, right close to Wellington St. in Sarnia.

In 2005 we opened a small on-farm bakery where we use the fruits from our fields in loaves, tarts, muffins and more. About that time we also started going to a local campground to sell fresh fruits and vegetables on Saturday mornings. Service at your door!

In 2009 we were one of the first farmers to join the Petrolia Farmer's Market at the Fairgrounds. They have since moved to a new location behind the library on Petrolia Line. We also began making preserves using our extra fruits from our fields. There is a great demand for jams made in the family kitchen!

Our goal is to deliver to you the freshest, top quality fruits and vegetables available. In this day of environmental concerns, we know you want quality food that is safe. As producers, we take this concern seriously. There are different considerations that help us to use chemicals  in a responsible manner.

We can pick for you or, with some crops, you can get even fresher produce and at a better price if you pick for yourself. Take your family on an outing to the farm so they can see firsthand where fruits and vegetables come from. Our goal is to give excellent customer service and satisfaction.

We are looking at expanding our farm experience for you. In 2010, our tenth year of business we added more farm animals for your enjoyment and to use produce that was not top quality for your table. Many laughs have been enjoyed over the antics of these animals.

Our business is family owned and operated. We welcome children of all ages to the great outdoors and the family farm experience.  Take your camera! There are all sorts of great picture taking moments on the farm: the taste of that first berry, picking the perfect apple, or finding the fattest pumpkin. The best pictures are taken in natural settings. In the fall, we create a display so you can take great group and family photos.

We offer school and group tours around our farm in the fall. For many children it is their first experience in the country. How rewarding to educate children about where their food comes from and the work involved in getting it to their table. We have been invited into school classrooms over the winter to further discuss this process. For those who come out to the farm we also started to offer wagon rides. What a hit!
Check out our on-farm store. We offer the freshest in-season fruits and vegetables Ontario has to offer. We work with Foodland Ontario to promote local produce and therefore are able to offer more variety from local farmers. Our first crops in May are Asparagus and Rhubarb.

We offer wholesale opportunities in some crops. Contact us for pricing, quantities, and delivery. Crops we generally wholesale are: some strawberries, raspberries, sweet corn, green and yellow beans, squash, pumpkins, gourds, decorative corn, peaches, apples, tomatoes, and peppers.

Check out our crop calendar to see when particular crops are available. You don’t want to miss our fresh produce. Or join our Face Book group and we will update you weekly!

Our farm received the Runners Up Award for the Outstanding Young farmer's Competition in 2011!
